Deuteronomy 32:11-12, “As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.”
Have you ever wondered why the church seems so much like the world? Have you ever wondered why good, well-meaning people, who feel that they want to be more for God, not just do more for God, but be more for God, yet they never find that dynamic energy to be what they know the Spirit is calling them to be?
Many hungry souls today are searching for more of God, and more meaning in life. They are searching for more satisfaction than they find in their political action movement, however just the cause. More peace than they find in the noble endeavors of philanthropy, and yes sadly, more than they can find in the church, though they may have attended faithfully for many years. It is to that hungry, albeit unsatisfied person that I appeal to today.
Your soul is crying out today for God, the living God. A God like you read about in the Bible, with the same power, the same character, who is the same today as he was when the church first began.
I want you to know that you are not alone, there are many precious people who have searched in every way they know how, yet continue to be frustrated at every turn. They talk to old friends, young friends, new friends, trusted family, fellow members of the church, and any preacher that will lend an ear.
Don’t despair, in fact, the good news is that you are more blessed than you realize. For Jesus said in Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
The beckoning that you feel is the call of the mighty Jehovah Eagle [Deuteronomy 32:11-12], He is hunting his lost child, and is circling just above you. Come with me now my friend on a journey through the Scriptures, that you may find peace for your weary soul, and spiritual food to satisfy your hunger.
There is an inexhaustible fountain of the water of life which flows freely from the throne of God, it will quench your thirst and lift you to heavenly heights you never imagined possible.
“Sir we would see Jesus” was the inquiring words of the Greek scholars when they came to meet Jesus as He entered Jerusalem for the great feast of Passover.
They had no doubt heard of the great miracle of raising Lazarus at Bethany, and had stood in amazement as they viewed His triumphal entry into Jerusalem on the back of a small donkey. Whether or not they came in sincerity, believing Him to be the source of Eternal Life, or were come, as some today, just to be a critic is not clear. What is clear is the direct teaching that Jesus applied when they came before Him.
In John 12:24 Jesus says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” He was trying to get them to understand that merely seeing Him in the flesh was not sufficient to gain Eternal Life, that there had to be a death and a new birth, much in the same way He had responded to Nicodemus, when that great teacher came to him by night.
In John 3 this "ruler of the Jews" hailed Him as “Rabbi”, (teacher), moreover "a teacher come from God," But the truth that Jesus needed to first impart to Nicodemus, and later the Greeks, is that it is not as a teacher that the sinner must first approach Christ.
What the sinner needs first is to be "born again," and in order to do this he must have a Savior. And it is of these very things our Lord speaks to Nicodemus (see verses 3 and 14). Of what value is teaching to one who is "dead in trespasses and sins”? [A.W. Pink] Christ ignored Nicodemus’ address, and with startling abruptness said, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
This then is the main reason why so many seek to have a true and meaningful purpose in life, only to find themselves disappointed. Disappointed with the world order, and often disillusioned by what they see in the modern Christian church, many turn to other fruitless attempts at lasting happiness and fulfillment.
The modern Christian church of today is a far cry from the original power and manifestation of the Spirit of God so enjoyed by the church of the early Apostles and their faithful believers. “The church is no longer the "mouthpiece" of God. It is its own mouthpiece. So God is turning on her. He will confound her through the prophet and the bride, for the voice of God will be in her.” Yes it is, for it says in the last chapter of Revelation, verse 17, "The Spirit and the bride say come". Once more the world will hear direct from God as at Pentecost; but of course that Word Bride will be repudiated as in the first age.” [William Branham]
Our modern schools of theology have missed the mark of leading people to a true born-again experience in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Instead they have reduced Christianity to a mental assent of denominational creed, and man made interpretation of Scripture. Since the true new birth is only made accessible by the divinely revealed Word of God, and since the modern Christian church refuses revelation of the Word by the spirit as the only path to Eternal life, they leave themselves, and millions following them on the outside looking in.
John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
The only way you can get to redemption is to get to God, and the only way you can approach God is to come through the blood of the innocent one, Christ Jesus. The only path to Eternal Life is a personal willingness to let God reveal Christ to you by supernatural revelation. No amount of intellectual learning or instruction can do it. It first takes a hungry heart, willing to respond to God's Word, saying amen to every Word from your heart. We must be just as Paul who had to be willing to humble himself in laying aside all he understood about God, and allow the Holy Ghost to retrain him, completely overhauling all that he held true.
Paul was attempting to serve God with more zeal and greater sincerity than any of his fellows, yet sincerely wrong. Trying desperately to do God a service, yet without it being God’s will, since it was contrary to God’s Word. Is this possible? Paul proved it was, but God is faithful and He will reveal Himself to His servants no matter how far from his true Word they find themselves, if they will humble themselves to revelation by the Spirit.
We shall now prove this little understood and largely overlooked truth by the Bible, but before we do, allow us to give you this personal testimony of a man, and his quest to find the true and living God, how that after experiencing many of the things we have described, he found at last that pearl of great price. As the Scriptures described Simeon, so was it for this brother in his life-long search for the true Word for his day. “And he came by the Spirit.” Luke 2:27.
As you read, ask yourself if this story is also your story, and if so, may you find new hope to press once more for the true peace in your heart you so crave, but haven’t yet found.
I would like to take the opportunity to share with you an extraordinary journey I have been on which has resulted in my discovery of a God who is loving and personal and interested in every aspect of my life. I was born into a strong Roman Catholic Church family and spent nine years in Catholic school being indoctrinated into all the doctrines of the church. My early memory of my experience with God is one of fear that I would not measure up to His standard and wind up in hell, or at best, in a place called purgatory suffering for the sins I had committed until enough prayers had been said for me so that I could eventually enter into heaven.
I worked as an altar boy with the priests for seven years where I was taught about The Virgin Mary, Holy water, the Saints we were to pray to, limbo, purgatory, transubstantiation, the infallibility of the Pope. Confession to the priest for forgiveness of sins, penance, lighting candles and many other tenets of the Catholic Church. I was as deeply committed to the church as anyone I knew.
After my elementary school years, I entered the public school system and quickly fell into a rebellious lifestyle of alcohol, drugs and immorality. My language was profane and my heart was dark and sought only for pleasure. I became a very conceited, selfish individual without direction and headed down a very dangerous path.
After many years without any contact with church and no thought of God, I had an encounter in a Southern Baptist Church in Winter Park, Florida that radically altered my life in many ways. For the first time in my life, I began to read my Bible and pray to God with a passion and sincerity that brought me into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The people in the church loved and helped me with my new found faith and desire to know God in the power of His resurrection. I had been justified and the process of sanctification made a dramatic transformation in my life.
About 3 months later I was invited to an Assembly of God Church just a few miles away from the church I was attending. To say that it was a powerful service would be a great understatement. The supernatural was on display in a way I had never experienced and the preaching of The Word was very dynamic and Ephesians 6 took me into a spiritual realm that revealed that I was to be a supernatural warrior equipped with the whole armor of God to fight the principalities powers rulers and evil spirits in high places. I could never be the same person I had been. Christianity took on a whole new meaning and I was anointed with an awareness that God had a specific purpose for my life and I was determined to find it and fulfill it.
My Baptist friends were not very excited about my new found experience with God and did everything they could to discourage me. After six months of attending both churches I finally made a decision to follow the light of the Word that had supercharged my life and left the Baptist Church. There was a lot of disappointment among my Baptist friends who had helped me so much, but I knew I had to follow what God had made real to me.
Several years later I made a decision to attend Bible School at PTL’s Heritage University of Evangelism that was founded by Jim Bakker. I had the opportunity to meet most of the leading evangelists and church leaders from around the world and had lots of personal interaction with Christians from all over the world that came to visit the Heritage campus. I became deeply involved with the Full Gospel Business Men and travelled all over the South giving my testimony and preaching as doors opened to me.
While travelling, the Lord brought a man into my life that introduced me to the revelation of the truth of the Godhead and Baptism in The Name of Jesus and the doctrine of holiness. What a tremendous experience this was to me personally but it also put me at odds with all my Christian friends I tried to share these new found truths with. God continually vindicated His Word to me and my faith and knowledge of His plan for my life continued to unfold to me.
God was not finished bringing more light and revelation into my life. In Orlando, Florida, I had an encounter with a man who introduced me to the Message of Malachi 4 and the ministry of William Marrion Branham. Once again my life changed dramatically as I was introduced to the Bride of Jesus Christ. The Word opened to me in ways that left me stunned and in a state of awe and wonder. Truly, I was living in Bible days. As I read and listened to the sermons of William Branham, the entire Bible came alive and my faith was illuminated and energized and supercharged to the point that I had to share what I knew with everyone I came in contact with. Most have rejected the truth but the ones who have received what I shared with them from the Message of the Hour were gloriously transformed into Sons and Daughters of God as I had been.
In the 29 years since hearing that God had sent a Prophet in the spirit of Elijah to turn the hearts of the children back to the faith of the fathers my life has been in a continual channel of inspiration and revelation of the plan of God from before the foundation of the world to the soon coming rapture of the church and the great tribulation to come. I would like to take this opportunity to challenge you to look into the Message of the Hour that God has sent to quicken your soul and impart rapturing faith to you, that you may be prepared to go to the marriage supper of the Lamb of God.
May God richly bless you and enlighten you!
Many sincere people are mistakenly led to believe, by misinterpreted theology, that a simple confession based only on a mental decision at the end of a Gospel presentation or sermon is sufficient for New Birth. This is why so many feel disappointed with the experience, their inability to overcome the evil desires in their heart, and a deep-down knowing that they do not have God’s approval in their lives.
But this need not be, for you can truly know that you have passed from death to life, that old things have passed away and behold all things are new. Let us look closely at the Scriptures as we set the record straight.
Why is it that mankind can't simply save himself by his own choosing and efforts?
The question is answered with a simple consideration that if this were so, who then would need a savior at all, and why did Christ come to the world to save sinners, and why did He need to die at all?
Look closely at Colossians 1:19-22, “For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:"
A much-overlooked truth of Scripture is that it is God who must first make a choice to offer a man salvation. One may fairly ask, does God offer salvation to all? Yes, indeed He does, but at a time and place of His choosing, and more importantly, He will do it in His way, and He only has ONE provided way, and that way is in Christ, and Christ is the revealed Word.
So salvation can only ever come as a man accepts in his heart the Word of God that is revealed to him by the Spirit.
Truly, salvation is the free unmerited favor of God, it is the greatest gift that was ever given, but it can't be stolen, God must offer it to you by way of revelation, and that is His sovereign choosing alone.
Consider these scriptures:
Matthew 11:25-27, “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the son will reveal him."
Matthew 16:17-18, “And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar- jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed unto the, but my father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock [Revelation] I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Acts 16:14, “And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.”
1 Corinthians 2:9-14, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
1 John 5:18-20, “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life."
Whosoever is born of God is so because Christ has given him an understanding.
The worldly condition of the modern church is the result of a failure to understand this principle. Moreover, the refusal of God’s provided way for fallen man is why the world is able to corral the church in powerless confines, imprisoning it in the walls of man-made creed and organized religion, because it lacks that rock, which is revelation, and worse, refuses it when it is presented.
As the Scripture says in Luke 11:52, “Woe unto you, lawyers! For ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.”
Therefore, a man may achieve nothing whatever by simply joining a church alone, signing a pledge, or being a member of a denomination. Neither can he achieve eternal life by acts of charity, reforming bad habits, being baptized in water, or thinking nice thoughts. Neither is God’s provided way fully met by a simple confession alone that does not come from a heart illuminated by the Holy Ghost. The central truth that Jesus was trying to get the Greeks and Nicodemus to understand is that a man must die, and be reborn from the inside out, by the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
Romans 8:9, “But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. But if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”
You are not born again until the Spirit of God dwells in you, and that simply doesn't come by a mere mental agreement with the plan of salvation. You must be willing to humble yourself and accept the Lordship of Christ the Word into your heart, and over every aspect of your life.
You cannot obligate Christ to allow you entrance to heaven without an obedient heart to every Word of God. To become a beneficiary of the Word of life, you must believe every Word of Life, for Jesus is the Word of life, and He can't be separated from His Word, He is the Word.
Denominations and man-made attempts at organized religion fall short of God’s expectation by refusing this simple truth, and for this reason they are unable to produce the life of the full Word in their followers.
According to Jesus, their attempts at worship are in vain, because they teach for doctrines the commandments men.
Consider these statements by Rev. William Branham:
The Revelation Of Jesus Christ, Seven Church Ages Book, December 4, 1965
Now remember this. Christ in the True Church is a continuation of the Book of Acts. But the Book of Revelation shows how that the antichrist spirit would come into the church and defile it, making it lukewarm, formal and powerless. It exposes Satan, revealing his works (attempted destruction of God's people and the discrediting of God's word) right down to the time he is cast into the lake of fire. He fights that. He cannot stand it. He knows that if the people get the TRUE REVELATION of the TRUE CHURCH and what she is, what she stands for and that SHE CAN DO THE GREATER WORKS, she will be an invincible army. If they get a true revelation of the two spirits within the framework of the Christian church, and by God's Spirit discern and withstand the antichrist spirit, Satan will be powerless before her. He will be as definitely thwarted today as when Christ withstood his every effort to gain power over Him in the desert. Yes, Satan hates revelation. But we love it. With true revelation in our lives, the gates of hell cannot prevail against us, but we will prevail over them.
The Revelation Of Jesus Christ, Seven Church Ages Book, December 4, 1965
As I have already said, this Book (Revelation) is the consummation of the Scriptures. It is even placed exactly right in the canon of Scripture; at the end. Now you can know why it says that anyone who reads or even hears it is blessed. It is the revelation of God that will give you authority over the devil. And you can see why they who would add or take from it would be cursed. It would have to be so, for who can add or take away from the perfect revelation of God and overcome the enemy? It is that simple. There is nothing of such prevailing power as the revelation of the Word. See, in verse three a blessing is pronounced on those who give special attention to this Book. I think this refers to the Old Testament custom of the priests reading the Word to the congregation in the morning. You see, many could not read so the priest had to read to them. As long as it was the Word, the blessing was there. It didn't matter if it was read or heard.
What Is The Attraction On The Mountain? July 25, 1965
But in the midst of all of it, through every age and every prophet that had been or would be, there is going to be a certain amount of people that's predestinated to hear that Message, and they'll follow It. Those ignore the crowds. They ignore the criticism of the unbeliever. They have no argument with them. They've got one thing to do, that's believe and to get every bit of It they can, soak It in like Mary who set at the feet of Jesus.
God's Chosen Place Of Worship, February 20, 1965
My friends, I don't want to hurt feelings, but I am responsible for a Message, and, that Message is, "Come out of this mess!" And if I ask you to come out, where am I going to take you to? Would I take you to the Branham Tabernacle? It's as much fault as any of the rest of them.
But there's one place I can take you to, where you're safe and protected from death, that's in Jesus Christ, God's place of worship. That's the place I'm introducing to you, tonight, where God put His Name. Where He promised He would meet every person that come in there, He would worship with him and feast with him, that's in Christ; not in no church, no tabernacle.
But, in Christ, He is God's Tabernacle. He is the place that God came into, Himself, and dwelt in Him. "This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am pleased to dwell in." There is where God tabernacled, brought His Name and placed It upon, Jesus Christ. Therefore, His Name was put in a Man, His Son, Jesus Christ, in which He tabernacled Himself, and in that Tabernacle.
Where, in a type, the old Jerusalem, the old feasts, the old temple, was a type; when the smoke come in, the day that the ark went in, of the covenant, and settled down, and the Voice of God was heard from it.
So did the Voice of God be heard, coming into the Tabernacle, Jesus Christ; which, the Old (natural) was a type and a shadow of the New. And when He come into Christ, He said, "This is My Beloved Son, in Whom I'm pleased to dwell in. And I'll choose the place where I'll put My Name, and where I will meet man, and where I will worship at." God chose the place; not in no church denomination, but in Jesus Christ. Yes, sir.
The God Who Is Rich In Mercy, January 19, 1965
As the little debate not long ago, with a minister that said that I was teaching an apostolic Doctrine in this day. I believe I spoke of it a night or two ago, or sometime, about how he said, "You're trying to inject, into this age, an apostolic Doctrine." He said, "The apostolic age ceased, with the apostles.
And I asked him, "Well, do you believe the Word?"
He said, "Yes."
I said, "Revelation 22:18 says, that, 'Whosoever shall take one Word out of This, or add one word to It,' not just two words; one Word, take one Word out."
Said, "I believe that."
I said, "Then I can tell you where the apostolic age was given, the apostolic Blessings was given to the Church; now you tell me where God taken it out of the Church, by the Word. You can't do it; it's not there." I said, "Now remember, that Peter, on the Day of Pentecost, he was the introducer of the apostolic age. And he told them all to, 'Repent, and be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to them that's far off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.'"
Now if you want to listen to the clucking of some denominational hen, and live back out there in the things of the world, then it goes to show that there is something wrong. Because, That is the Word. "Whosoever will, may come." And if you've got a will, you should come. But if you haven't no will, then you're in a sad condition. But if you've got a will to come, come follow God's formula!
And He never fails to fulfill what He promised. I once was young, and now I'm old, I've never seen Him fail in His Word. Because, He can do anything but fail. He cannot fail. God cannot. It's impossible for God to fail, and remain God. He has to, to do that.
Now Pharaoh's army tried to impersonate, because they wasn't called and they had not that Life. Into the... The promise wasn't given to Pharaoh. The promise wasn't give him for a promised land.
And an impersonator, trying to follow a real believer who is called to such, only makes a mockery out of it. That's what's the matter with our religious system today, is too many people trying to impersonate the Holy Spirit, too many people trying to impersonate the baptism, too many people trying to impersonate the apostolic age. It's for believers, and that alone. God has made a way, rich in mercy, that His children would not perish. He has made a way for them.
Now, Pharaoh trying to pursue on, he drowned in the very waters that saved Moses and his group. Now, Moses did not drown, because God is rich in mercy to them who are following His provided way. Amen.
Can you see what I mean? That, tonight, people who don't believe in Divine healing, people who do not believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, how can they receive anything? God is rich in mercy to those who will follow after Him; not after a creed, but after God.
God is the Word, and It was made flesh and dwelt among us, now, that He might bring forth the other attributes of God. The body, Jesus, was the body of God, an attribute. Moses seen Him pass, the back part of Him; no man had seen His face. But now we seen Him, we have beheld Him, see Him as the Sacrifice. Now, see, He was an attribute of God, being displayed, the Word. That's what He was.
And when any believer comes to God, he becomes God's attribute of His Word, he is used to manifest the Word that's promised for that day. See? That's right. God, rich in mercy, has never left us without a testimony. He is rich in mercy.
